To say 2009 has been a busy year thus far would be a tremendous understatement. Heading into our fourth month, this is only our second newsletter, and the summer semester is about to begin.
One of the main reasons for our busy-ness is what lies behind this newsletter. I have been talking excitedly about its imminent arrival for nearly 6 months, and now, our new website has finally arrived. I hope it does not disappoint. It does not have all of the features that it one day will, but it should prove to be very user-friendly and informative. In the next phase of development, we will bring back the noteworthy Practitioner Directory, with new listing features and enhanced navigability.
Of course there are other things that keep us perpetually on the go, including our ever-growing student body, a few new programs that are coming down the pipeline, and a business award that was recently bestowed upon us: Douglas Magazine's "10 to Watch" among Victoria's notable new businesses. For fear of running out of time again, I am going to keep this brief and let you get to the rest of the newsletter, and hopefully to our new website.
As always, enjoy!
Todd N Howard, President

PanAfrican Acupuncture Project seeks practitionersThe PanAfrican Acupuncture Project (PAAP) is a pioneering initiative based in East Africa that provides acupuncture training to local health care workers. Since 2003 PAAP has trained more than 160 health care workers to employ simple yet effective acupuncture techniques in the treatment of endemic conditions such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, malnutrition and tuberculosis. Those health care workers have in turn used their new skills to help thousands of Africans.
The next PAAP trainings will be held in the Rakai, Lyantonde and Sembabule districts of Uganda and also in Kenya. The HIV/AIDS infection rate in Rakai is above 8%. The Kenya training will be from April 20-24. The Uganda training is from April 27-May 8. Please click here for more information.
